Chee Yen (Bruce) Leow currently an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and a Research Fellow with the Wireless Communication Centre, Higher Institution Centre of Excellence, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He obtained a PhD degree in Wireless Communications from Imperial College London in September 2011 and a B.Eng. degree in Computer Engineering from UTM in June 2007.

Since 2011, he has been actively involved in the R&D in 4G LTE and 5G. His research interest includes non-orthogonal multiple access, drone communication, cooperative communication, MIMO, physical layer security, convex optimization, game theory, wireless power transfer and communication, prototype development using software defined radio, for 5G and Internet of Things applications. His research is supported by UTM, government, industry and international bodies. He has headed 11 research projects and secured a total funding worth over RM1.4 million. The outcomes of his research are published in 46 indexed journals, including 24 top ranked Q1/Q2 ISI journals. His recent IEEE Transactions papers (Trans. Vehicular Tech. & Trans. Antennas Propagation) and IEEE Communication Survey and Tutorials paper won the IEEE Malaysia Comsoc/VTS Joint Chapter's Best Paper Awards 2016 and 2017, and IEEE Malaysia AP/MTT/EMC Joint Chapter's Best Paper award 2017. To date, 7 Ph.D students and 3 M.Eng. by research students had graduated under his supervision.

He is among the pioneers for 5G initiatives in Malaysia to promote 5G R&D collaboration between industry and academic. He served as the Secretary for 5G Working Group from 2014 to 2018 and he is recently elected as the Secretary for IMT & Future Networks Working Group in Malaysia Technical Standards Forum Berhad (MTSFB) to accelerate the adoption of 5G IMT-2020 Standard in Malaysia. He is also the elected Executive Committee of the IEEE Malaysia Communication Society and Vehicular Technology Society Joint Chapter since 2017, where he is responsible for technical program development for the local industry. In addition, he regularly conducts short courses on 4G Long Term Evolution and 5G for the telecommunication industry. To date, he has accumulated more than 400 hours as professional trainer on 4G and 5G technologies.

As a lecturer, he has more than 6 years of teaching experience in the area of communications and electronics. The courses include Wireless Communication Systems for Masters level, and Electronics Devices, Digital Electronics, Communication Principles, as well as final year electives such as Digital Communication Systems and Wireless Communication Systems for undergraduate level
